The project: CBF head dude Randy Neufeld needs to move a piano from his uncle's house in Rogers Park to his place in Lakeview. The equipment: Heavy-duty trailer provided by Tim Herlihy of Urban Bikes in Uptown. Distance: approx 6 miles. Route: Western Avenue from Bryn Mawr south to Peterson, east to Ravenswood, south on Ravenswood. Total time on the road: approx one hour. The posse: 12 riders including Randy's kids, friends, and 5 Massers. High point: Meeting Ald. Mary Ann Smith who yelled (from her car window) "Those are my kind of folks!" Problems: none. Motorists attitudes: mostly positive on Western since we left them one lane free. However, on one section of Peterson eastbound some car traffic blockage was required resulting in minor road rage. |
